Microsoft China accidentally posts Windows 9 logo on Weibo
Microsoft’s China division today accidentally posted Windows 9 logo on the company’s official Weibo Account. Weibo is a Chinese microblogging website. The post was removed after few minutes but the chinese website cnbeta was able to grab a screenshot of it before it disappeared.
The post had an image and a question asking people whether the start menu will appear in the lower left corner or not.
As per the reports, Microsoft is expected to release Windows 9’s, currently labeled as Threshold, Technical Preview to the general public on 30th September 2014. This date may be changed but a Technical Preview of the operating system will be distributed to developers and enterprise users in late September or early October. Microsoft is planning to release this version in April 2015.
The Technical Preview is rumored to provide a first look at the new mini Start Menu, removal of the Charms Bar feature and major changes to its UI to differentiate it from Windows 8. It is also expected to include the ability to boot directly to the desktop instead of the modern interface and the ability to shut down the machine directly from the Start Menu. Cortana, Microsoft’s personal assistant currently found only on Windows 8.1 Phone will most probably be included with this version of the OS. Though, reports say it may be included as an app, which means that users can turn it on or off.
